Maker Club
KS Makers is a Maker Club I ran at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus. Fourth and fifth grade students meet after school once a week to make together. They have the opportunity to be full participants in the Maker Movement and use Design Thinking. Having the opportunity to encourage STEAM learning and share my passions with my students is wonderful. We had big plans and ideas for what we wanted to make this year and showcased everything at our Maker Faire! Follow our Twitter hashtag, #ksmakers.

Spartan Marching Band

Having a music minor and from my experience in the Spartan Marching Band, I hope to integrate music into my classroom. I want to inspire students to find their passion and expose them to music. Currently, I give private lessons. I would love to run a music club and continue assisting band camps throughout my teaching career.
I was an Alto Saxophone player in the Spartan Marching Band at MSU for five years. During that time, I held the position of Squad Leader, along with Uniform Manager on the Band Staff. Through this outstanding organization, I had experience leading others and working as a team. Having the opportunity to organize and operate a system to distribute uniforms to the band, 300 strong, was a tremendous experience. This aspect of music has helped me grow as a musician and organized leader. I highly recommend joining this organization if you have the opportunity. Visit spartanband.net for more information.

Kappa Kappa Psi![]() From my experience in Kappa Kappa Psi, I hope to encourage my students to participate in many service opportunities in their community. I think it is important for students to learn about service and giving back, as they are the future generations of our world.
Kappa Kappa Psi is a National Honorary Band Fraternity. It is a student service and leadership recognition society. As a member of this brotherhood and the Zeta Epsilon Chapter, I participated in many concentrated service activities. I have gained experience in leadership and organization. It was an honor to be selected to serve for the Spartan Marching Band, MSU College of Music, and the cause of music in the nation's colleges and universities. Pilipino American Student Society (PASS)
![]() Being a part of PASS for four years has really helped me grow in all aspects, especially culturally. I would love to have some sort of cultural awareness club in my future years of teaching. I think it is imperative for students to be culturally aware because of the diverse world we live in.
PASS's mission is to unite Pilipino-Americans at MSU and to generate a greater awareness of Pilipino heritage and culture. We value academic excellence, role modeling, pursuit of cultural enlightenment, proactive community leadership, responsible programming, development, loyalty, integrity and trust, and being proud yet humble. "Isang pamilia, isang mahal". For more information about PASS, click here. |
Running![]() In addition to teaching, I would love to coach a running club. It is important for children to be active and exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
In October 2011, I successfully finished the Chicago Marathon as a team member of the American Cancer Society. The process of training for such a tremendous race was a unique learning experience. I hope to teach students to find their own self motivation, no matter what it applies to. Through determination and hard work, I am now dedicated to running. Since then, I have completed another full marathon, two half marathons, and many other races. I even co-planned the Twilight Shadows 5k race fundraiser with a fellow colleague. Even today, I am still a runner. I will be participating in another Marathon next year, as well as my first triathlon. |
Dance![]() From my extensive experience with dance, I aspire to engage with my students on this level, as well. In the classroom I hope to incorporate fun dancing. Additionally, I would like to be in charge of a dance club someday.
Ever since I was a little girl, it was my dream to teach dance. I have taught dance classes and dance camps at my local studio, as well as help work dance recitals. Throughout my nineteen years of dance experience, I have danced competitively with my studio, on the school dance team, through dance clubs in college, and competitively in college. From my experiences in various dance organizations, I have knowledge of cultural dancing, tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern/contemporary, and hip hop. It would be great to get to know my students outside of school in an extracurricular setting, such as dance class. |
